Almost nobody knows what temperature their radiators run at.

You do not need to know either. One rule is enough: the cooler the water, the more efficiently your heat source works.

Only: ordinary radiators give off too little heat at a low temperature. That is why a home gets cold instead of cheap.

Rator solves that. It gets more out of the heat that is already there. Quiet fans actively spread the heat through the room. The valve doses the water flow automatically for the biggest possible saving. Works with your boiler now, and your heat pump later.

How we calculate this

Basis: apartment 750 m³ of gas a year and 4 units, terraced house 1,100 m³ and 6 units. Minus 150 m³ for hot water, times 8.8 kWh per m³, gives the heat demand. Gas boiler: 70 °C now, 45 down to 35 °C with Rator. The gain comes from better condensation plus 8% from room-by-room control. Heat pump: 55 °C now at COP 2.8, with Rator COP 3.7 at 45 °C and 4.6 at 35 °C. Gas € 1.45 per m³, electricity € 0.30 per kWh. The units use about 25 kWh each a year; that is already deducted.

The range assumes a supply temperature of 45 down to 35 degrees after installation. The better insulated your home, the lower that temperature can go and the more you save. What you actually save further depends on your heat source and how you heat.

Good to know beforehand.

Is Rator a heat pump?

No. Rator is an intelligent active radiator for low-temperature heating. It works with your boiler, heat pump or district heating.

Does my floor have to be opened?

No. Rator replaces your existing radiator and uses the pipes already in place. No demolition, no weeks of renovation.

Will I hear the fans?

The sound is never disturbing, because the fans modulate with the temperature difference. It stays under 30 dB (about as quiet as a soft whisper), unless you ask for more yourself. They always ease gently up and down instead of kicking on hard. That is a big difference from other solutions, which usually work with just 3 speeds.

Do I need an app?

No. You set the temperature on the unit itself, room by room. There is an app, but you never have to use it.

How much can I save?

That depends on your home and your heat source. If you stay on your boiler, it means up to more than 20% less gas. If you move to a heat pump, it works more efficiently at a lower supply temperature and can be a size smaller. The examples on this page land between roughly € 110 and € 305 a year.

How long does installation take?

Usually less than an hour. Rator clicks onto your existing pipes: old radiator off, Rator on, done. No demolition.

What about dust?

Rator 1 has a filter that catches dust particles. It protects the fans and the heat exchanger from dirt and keeps performance at its best.
